About Us

ASAP | art is an editorially driven application that publishes critical writing and conversations around lens-based art and media with a focus on South Asia. We present diverse perspectives on image-making and its socio-political contours through short essays, text and video interviews, curated albums of still and moving images as well as a series of audio conversations. The range of topics covered include the world of media histories, contemporary exhibitionary practices, seminars, publications and grants, among other things. We hope to create public engagement on the interdisciplinary nature and sociopolitical dimensions of visual cultures.

The app was founded by curator and publisher Rahaab Allana in February 2021. Do visit our Credits page for more information.

SUPPORT

The app was singularly supported by the MurthyNAYAK Foundation (MNF) since its inception. The editorial is now supported by The Alkazi Foundation for the Arts.
